Can I add 4D if I have just received Varilux S lenses?

Varilux S 4D
by: Arpi

Hi Everett,

I understand that you have Varilux S lenses, and you want to add them 4D.
You must know that this is not possible for the following reason:

S4D is not an option to add on lenses, it is a different type of lens.

If you want S4D, you have to order these lenses separately.
Before ordering, you need a particular eye exam, using visioffice system from Varilux.
This is a digital system used by opticians that automatically measures specific parameters for these lenses for you to have the best vision.

Hope this helps.

S design vs Physio
by: Sermed

Hi,

Can I know what are the main differences between physio 2 f 360 and S Design lenses and which one is better and with less distortion?

S design vs Physio
by: Arpi

I will start mentioning that anything after physio is high-end best tech lens. When we talk about high-end lenses, we talk about latest technologies that are pushing boundaries of vision and comfort.

That being said, there are no cheap lenses when we talk about Varilux, or better said, I never had bad experiences with the Varilux lenses. At this level, is what you need.

I think that if you need better contrast, a clear vision and a higher resolution at all distances no matter the light, you have the physio two f360 with the W.A.V.E and Advanced Digital Surfacing technology.

Another particular fact is that you can personalize the lenses curvature and thickness for your needs and frames, so is good for thicker lenses.

The S series I think is a lens designed for people with accommodation problems, for a bigger comfort and convenience.
The main feature: eliminate the off-balance feeling.
The rest of the lens has the same technologies and is considered by them the best lens on the market.

So I would recommend this lens if it is your first progressive eyeglass, or you had another, but you had accommodation problems.

Hope this helps.

Varilux S 4D Do they really exist
by: Paul Charbonnet

I have been trying to get fitted for Varilux 4d lenses for about 6 months. I cannot find an optometrist on the Gulf Coast Houston to Panama City who a) Knows what a S 4D is b) has the equipment to fit them. Responses from Essilor giving me names of providers who have never included anyone who can do the personalized fitting. Just because they have the special "Office" software doesn't qualify them. Moreover, searching the web for Varilux happy S4 Lenses customers finds NOTHING. I think the S 4D is actually a come-on sales pitch that when you bite they lie or sell down to the lower tech S lenses. Vaarilux s $D- = 2 Good to be true.

Varilux S 4D Do they really exist
by: Arpi

"Backed by Nanoptix, SynchronEyes and the ground-breaking 4D Technology, Varilux S 4D lenses are a revolution in lens personalization. Varilux S 4D lenses are exclusive to Visioffice® doctors. In addition to position of wear, natural head posture and eye rotation center, Varilux S 4D lenses also include the leading, dominant eye measurement that allows patients to experience faster visual reaction time."

This quote is from the official Essilor site, and this shows that this is a highly personalized lens, which means you need all these precise measurements made with the visioffice equipment.

This is a new type of glass. Therefore there are only a few places you can make this measurement, so I believe you when you say you are trying for six months.

In the end, I would advise for a more tested lens, with real opinions and with the possibility of ordering.

Varilux S4D
by: Anonymous

I received my Varilux S4D lenses one week ago and they are absolutely rubbish. This is my third pair of progressive lenses, first time Varilux, but never again! (Zeiss is much better)

Even with these high tech lenses I'm experiencing a lot of swim feeling and overwelming viqion inqtead of a smooth and calm view.

From esthetical perspective they look horrible with +2 and +4,5, way to thick.

Found th elusive S4D
by: Anonymous

I found Varilux S4D after harassing the Varilux contact people. I had to drive 2.5 hours one way. Harvey Optical in Alexandria LA made a pair. Now my life is changed. I can easily work 8 hours on the computer screen. It is a miracle. Absolutely effective and worth every penny. I was on the verge of losing my job. the 4SD came out about 2012. It is a terrible shame thatit largely unknown to opticians.
